Stepping Up… Stepping Out
Last night was Liberty Lane's annual fundraiser gala, and I'm proud to have been part of the team that put it together for the sixth time. I've served on Liberty Lane's board for nearly 20 years, including 10 as president, and it's one of my favourite nights of the year.
Liberty Lane provides affordable housing and support services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence. The need has only grown.
This year's event featured The Jenn Russell Band, Karine Basque, and Amber Bishop. Dr. Russell also talked about evidence-based interventions through her Population Health Institute at UNB, which is partnering with Liberty Lane to improve how New Brunswick collects, shares, and uses data on gender-based violence.
This year's theme was "Stepping Up… Stepping Out," and it was apt — the gala is one of many ways the community steps up to support the essential work that Liberty Lane does. Thank you to everyone who came out, to our sponsors, and to the staff and volunteers who make Liberty Lane work every single day.
