A vote for Kelly

People have asked me, “What should I look for in my councillor?” You want to elect someone who (1) shares your priorities, and (2) has the ability to actually get things done.

It’s easy to make promises about the future – but the best evidence of a person’s priorities is what they have done in the past. In all 20 years I have lived in Ward 10, I have volunteered my time, expertise, and energy in affordable housing, cycling and trails organizations, and environmental initiatives, in leadership and support roles.

Ability to execute is much more than simply bringing your voice to the table. It is working collegially and building consensus; establishing partnerships; navigating competing priorities and interests; and understanding regulatory and operational environments. It is knowing which questions to ask and when to accept the answer and when to challenge it. Execution requires the ability to hold oneself and others accountable.
